Hi guys,
Not sure if there is any interest, but i have a source here in Asia with a full metal shop. Obviously, some large parts would be too expensive to ship out, but i was thinking of bringing back the guage rings as i know there is a HUGE demand for that stuff.
I can also dye metal to match car colors, ex. blue yellow orange, etc. anything you really want.
Is there any interest for small metal made parts, say less than 1 cubic foot in size, that i can do for the cars? I have a full CAD experience and can custom design pretty much anything metal that fits within those size specifications.
If there is, please discuss here to see what you think...
Thanks a lot,
Paul

you might want to ask him for permission. but this is still good idea :)
CNC machined radiator shrouds, battery tie downs, radiator brackets, fuse box covers all are in high demand because noone really makes them for the Protege. I'll take one of each! :D

does anyone/can anyone get me pictures of these so i can see if it is possible to make them?
I really can do pretty much anything, just need dimensions, specs, etc.

thanks man, hopefully i can come through on these items if the demand is there.
Thinking about it, i would prolly have to sell about 25-30 of each part to make at a good price.

OK, well after looking at these pics, i am sure i can make these. Is there any interest in customized colors or just stainless look (or polished) for the most part?

Polished would probably be easier for you since there are so many diferent colors out there.
Prob be too much trouble to make like.. one set of blue.. one set yellow.. three orange.. etc.
polished imo. fyi nutari, radiator supports like your 2nd and 3rd pics have been made before. try search for wagner. i have them, its pretty sweet

I would buy a radiator shroud, only if it says ARC on it. J/K, hurry up and make them.

i'd be in for some engine pieces. How's about the window control panel? Might have a little too much curves and such involved. Or just any interior pieces i'm sure would sell.
But for sure the engine, i'd be down for some pieces.

Yeah the rad shroud would be sweet....
fuse box, rad. supports, and battery tiedown also could be done...
Price would be a lot better than the wagner ones too... man he's making a F*cking killing.
The interior stuff was what i was thinking of originally, esp. the dave b., errr now Paul S. rings as i know a tin of people were turned away. I am surprised to see that anodizing color hasne gotten any interest yet. Its simple and cheap to do...
Keep the suggestions coming though, i know i can do this stuff.

btw, if you do sell products.. I think you might need to contact a mod.. dunno though.
:) I'll pay for your AMM status if you give me a discount. >=)
if u could make replacement parts, id be in. i would love a new cruise control bracket in red, brackets in the motor in red, etc etc.

Red pieces would be the shizz. actually, any pieces would be the shizz. Hope this happens, and this gets rolling. Good Luck.

ok, this is what i can do with the metal finishes, just so you have an example. I use this tech. at work but i can easily adapt it to do other stuff like this on cars...
here is a sheet of different colors we have done before.

Of course, this is all preliminary anyways. I would still have to prototype what i want to sell, etc. etc....
I want to make sure what i sell is quality, so im not rushing into anything...

Also, for the Fuse Box cover, can you make two versions? Some of us has 1sty's full grounding kit installed which required a cutout at the corner (lower left) of the fuse box cover.

I may need some dimensions or 3D profiles. The problem is that these will be made in hong kong and my car is in America, so i dont have the parts at my fingertips by any means.
also, are most of these parts interchangeable between models? I assume yes, but i want to be sure... expand the markets, ya know?

I will seriously consider making anything that has a significant demand. I figure for some parts, i will have to make dies and/or moulds, so i think the cutoff for it being profitable would be about 35 peieces to sell.
Bottom line, if you guys think i can sell 35-40 of "X" part, then i will go through and start the legwork...

Please keep in mind, however, that this is a guaging interest thread until i do ALL development and test fitting, etc.
I dont want anyone to think i am ready to do this tomorrow, because i work about 70 hours a week at my normal job and this will be outside this time. Except for posting, which i can do at work, hehehehe...
Thanks for the feedback though. Here is a list of stuff i will prioritize in developing/pricing. If you have any comments, feel free.
1. the dave B. rings need to get started again. This will be top priority i believe.
2. Radiator shroud- Also should be easy to develop. Coloring might be difficult however, but i think i can overcome the hurdle i am thinking about.
3. radiator brackets- Should be easy, but i will need to make sure i can make it strong enough as this is actually a functional peice. I dont want to put anything faulty on our cars.
4. Fuse box covers- Also should be VERY easy. If the need to have both types (with grounding kit, without) is there, i will do both.
Here is what i need from you guys though. If you help me out now, i can speed this along a bit.
1. EXACT dimensions of existing parts. Rad. shroud doesnt apply as i will have to design and testfit myself. These dont have to be cads, but have to be accurate as this is what i will be using for prototype peices. A set of Dave B. rings in my possession would be great too. Anyone willing to let me borrow them? I'll throw in 1 free component of their preference if someone does. Also, i would need some 3 view pics of each piece to go with the dimensions if not CAD, for my reference when programming.
I think thats it for now, but i will post here if i need anything else.
Thanks for your positive guidance!!!

So are you in HK right now?
also, are most of these parts interchangeable between models?
The MSP radiator is unique and different than any of the other models due to the SMIC. I believe it actually sits higher. I don't think a rad shroud has even been attempted so if you complete one, it would be safe to say that you would essentially have a monopoly on the market. :D The rest of the parts mentioned should be universally interchangeable.

Depending on how you are machining the parts, I would assume that this would be the easiest to make. Just take the stock bracket dimensions, cut a rectangular piece and make some holes in it and you are good to go. Just make it pretty. Some people need brackets because they've installed a FMIC and upgraded their radiator. Others, like me, just want to add more styling. On that note, what kind of material will you be using? I would prefer aluminum.

I realized this fact after i posted, sorry. I should be able to make both though as i can easily sell them i think.

Pretty, got it. Aluminum, either that or zinc coated, reason being it's easier to work with regarding colorization. Stainless would be difficult to get at a good quality in china, but i can look if the interest is there....
