Ok so I want to buy a new muffler, but I really done want to pay 150$ for something that is not going to make me go any faster. I went to Andysautosport and saw how expensive they are. Any suggestions?

I know, so why would anyone pay 200$ for one?

I guess you basically pay for looks and sound, if it's just a muffler. Personally I'd look into axle-backs. And $150 is not a bad price for something of good quality.

Are you looking for a catback system or what? Whats wrong with you racing beat exhaust? I mean parts cost money so I guess your SOL.

Good point about the axle back. I believe someone recently dynoed the Mazdaspeed axle-back and found it gave 3 whp. That's not bad for basically a muffler. You can get it new for about $150 from Mazdastuff or used on this forum for even less than half that.

i thought they had like the pace muffler? its a axle back im pretty sure, i dont remember if they made it for our cars, but if we get a list of people who would want it they might make it. from what i read when my friend asked me for a good exhaust i found the pace muffler, it 50 state legal too! lol well they SAY their mufflers give like 8-15? i dont remember wat was the numbers ill repost if i find later

don't bother switching to a MSP axleback vs the MP3 axleback.
spend the money on a full catback system or don't do it at all. and even then you might want to wait till you know what you really want to do with the car. if you want a turbo later on, then you wouldn't get the same exhaust as for NA now.

mp3 and the msp axle backs are decent flow.. not that bad over stock muffler on the protege and most important it wont fail u on state inspect here in va lol, and you wont get pulled for havin a loud ass exhaust by cops. happned to my freinds 03 es had a corksport cat back and no sliencer and got pulled 2 times even with the silencier he got pulled once i think ill double check, found the site will post link later when i have time at school

Only thing about the Corksport is that it gets rid of one of the cats.

you might as well just get a catback or something... strictly muffler is kinda rice IMHO.
