afaik no. the heads are not interchangable, and have small differences, so i would assume that the intake manis wouldnt change

The BP heads ARE interchangeable. The manifolds will both bolt to the 94-97 Miata head and vice versa. However, the alignment of the manifolds in the cars will not work without modification. For example, a Protege manifold installed in a Miata will have the throttle body pointed at the firewall, whereas a Protege with a Miata manifold will have the TB pointed toward teh passenger side of the car.

Also, the 99 Miata heads have a different intake manifold bolt pattern. In case you were wondering....

so this is what i have going on...... i am putting a miata short block in my protege with 30,xxx miles and i have also got a miata head and intake i dont plan on using the intake. the miata head is a back up head in case the head on my engine is not in the best shape when i take it off to put the new engine in.
