Hey guys, finally removed the side mouldings last week. I'm really happy, looks good and came off cleanly (I used the fishing line technique). I'm removing the "mazda 3" from the rear hatch, just leaving the center mazda icon. So I gave a quick try on the mazda letters but it seems as if they may be bolted on at the first "A" and the "D". I figured they'd just use the same adhesive glue. I didn't force it as I was giving it a quick try after work.
Anybody knows what's up?
PS. My intake arrived today!!! :D

The fact that mazda forces you to keep the fuckin badges on your car. Whats the need for the holes its not like they're gonna fly off or something. Other car companies, like Audi, don't put holes int the body just for the sake of the stinkin badges.

I think Instead of removing, (since you cant take them all off unless you fill the holes)..I'm gonna paint them all black...

wait till ya get a dent or a scratch on the trunk...thats alot of money to repaint just for 2 stupid holes from a badge.
I like the look, but i aint gonna do it until i have a better reason to.

The "3" is stuck on with adhesive. Some ppl have put it over on the right side of the hatch/trunk. I thought that was a viable option compared to the holes.

i kinda understand the point of debadging but at the same time it just seems like you bought a mazda, but you don't want anyone to know. ( i do realize some people like the "no-name" type look for their car.)

They did on mine, but I made him take it off before I left the lot.

yeah i got lucky. the dealer just put one of those license plate frames. i told the dealer that if there was a sticker on the car i was going to buy they were going to remove it before i'm done signing papers.

I'm glad the didn't put on my front license plate bracket. It's much smoother w/o it.

Every emblem on the mazda 3 is adhesive only. The only one that does have the holes is the emblem on the from grill. If you go look at them all of them are put on there buy adhesive. To debadge all the emblems all you need is a heat gun and some adhesive remover.

I took an old credit card of mine and rubbed all the emblems off. No marks and looks nice.

maybe on the sedan, but the hatch got holes for mazda, and M logo(front and back). the only one without it is the 3 emblem.
I just got done taking them off, and painting them black. if you want i can take pictures.

ummm.. yeah, I can safely say that the Canadian version of the sedan is defenitly not all held by adhesive. The M logo in the back has holes, and the so does the word 'mazda'. The '3' is the only one in the back thats held on there with tape.

The "3" is a Sticker.

...but maybe, just maybe there is some diffrence in the model and/or years that you are discussing. I have a 2004 3 Hatch and I cant tell you this, the "MAZDA" and the "M" logo in the center of the hatch are bolted on. The "3" on the hatch is adhesive. The "M" logo on the front grill snaps into place. I don't know about the other models or years. It's important that you compare apples to apples before you co and rip something off your car.

yeah i think this matter is settled. I do have a couple of pics of my badges painted charcoal metallic. The quality is not very good but it does the job.

thanks man. I will have some better pcitures soon, i smoked the tail lights and the headlights willbe done today. I think the badges will look better when everything else is also darkened a bit more.

my 3 hatchback had plugs in the "MAZDA" in the rear and in the Mazda logo in the back as well. i got off the 2.3 on the doors by using dental floss and kind of sawing it off, then i used goo-gone to remove the remaining 3M tape.

what kind of adhesive can you use to put the emblems back on? i took mine off to see what the car would look like. i might paint them black. i just need to know what is safe to use and where i can get the adhesive.

i think that he refers to the emblems he will take off. you cant reuse whatever is left of the tape, it wont stick.

I believe if you read the thread fully, you will see that the topic came up. Why not just paint it black and put it back on?
i actually like it better without it...so i am gonna do the body work and make it clean looking

Well, at least the color is rather common, find a good bodyshop to weld it and bondo paint...
i dont need a body shop i can do that.....here was one thing i have fixed
it was a while back in highschool i was in an accident and i decides to fix my card as a senior project...to make a long story short the most custom thing we did to the car was remove the beds chrome trim that was all crimped and welded from the factory.
we cut, welded, sanded, mar-glassed, bondoed, until that thing was perfectly rounded..........
unfortunatley 2 months before paint day i was rear ended at a railroad crossing and never got to finish my beautiful elky. oh well
here are the rest...if there is one thing i know it is body work...
