Ok now i searched...but didnt find what i was looking for. I am curious as the motor in the MP-S its taking from the protege5 correct? If so did they 'build' the motor in any way? How strong is this motor? thanks for the help guys

The engines are identical, other than a turbo, of course, there may be some ECU changes tho. As for internals, race proteges run about 500hp without needing any new internals, I wouldn't worry about it.

No way does the JIC drag protege (with about 450hp) NOT have upgrades to the internals...

I think with propper tuning Bell estimated the potential HP limit on the 2.0L at a little under 300hp. 500hp is way to high for what we have in there

according to the last time I saw it, it had stock internals. Tho it also had four inch turbo piping.

Bullsh*t....... all those race protege's, like the one you see in Would Touring Challenge on Speedvision all have modified engines including internals. Go on mazdaspeed's site and you can find all the parts they use in those cars. They are N/A, you have to be spokin some good crack if you think they run stock block's and internals. Sheesh.

It might be a stock block, but i promise you the internals are upgraded (rods+pistons, at least). I don't care what kind of turbo you run, you can't put that much power through a stock protege engine w/o upgrades...

I bet that you couldnt go over 300 hp with the stock internals.

*shrugs* last time someone posted pics of the JIC drag protege, they were shouting about how awesome it was, and all on stock internals. But oh well maybe I'm wrong.

Don't forget you need a tranny to use/handle that power without going south.
