I know two are in Ontario.
The mazda at Yonge and Steels got one yesterday. Didn't see it though. Also my dealship recieved one today but it's not for me. No time to see it though. However I'm next in line to get one! hehe yay :P . Maybe i'll go to my dealership tonight and see if the guy picked it up. If not i'll take some pics with my camera.
My dealership is Avante Mazda in Richmond Hill Ontario btw. I'm sure you can still buy a msp at Avante mazda. I think they are getting 5 all together. Of course the sales guy could be BS'ing. He told me Canada is only getting 250 MSP?? It's 750 right?

I DESERVED IT!!
it's driving me nuts hearing all the BS from the dealer today... same old crap... "OH, I GUESS IT WILL BE PRETTY SOON, SINCE THEY'RE IN VANCOUVER NOW!!" (they said this like 3 months ago)

I feel for you phantom.
i ordered mine on June 3rd and ever since, it's been the same bullshit from my dealership.
BakaFoo, how did you know that North Toronto was getting one of the 6 MSP? that's good infomation. Since it's not far from where i live, i wouldn't mind going to see this car. Although something holds me back, because the first car i want to see is my own.
I'm surprised that Avantei is getting 5 MSPs. That's alot for one dealership.
Durham Mazda, where i ordered mine is getting 3 MSPs.
Just information i wanted to share.
I wonder how many MSPs are going to Markham Mazda?. They have the shiitest salesrep i've ever met. And the dealership looks like crap! (moon)

AVANTE Mazda bought out North Toronto Mazda... so if you're calling North Toronto Mazda, you're actually calling Avante..... even though may still be operating as separate names. If you can, get in touch with Raymond Kwan at Avante. He is the best guy to contact.... he has been part of the the Toronto Protege Club since the beginning and has gotten Avante Mazda to be an official sponsor of ours.

The local Mazda dealership here has an allotment of 12 MSPs. 8 black and 4 orange. Allotments are based on dealer sales volumes. Cook Mazda in MI is also getting 12 or so MSPs. Jim

Well I just got back from Avante Mazda in thornhill ( formerly North Toronto Mazda )
They have one MSP that just came in this morning, they were nice enough to show it to me even thou I have one ordered elseware. Very good customer service. They did not open it up as it is a sold car and I respect that.
The car was a bit dirty since it just came off the truck...but the colour is awesome in person....in the words of my friend with me a real eye catcher.
Avante has 4 more coming in the next two weeks and they are AVAILABLE......so for those that want one call them.....905-889-2001.

Thanks for the infomation oliver2000.
I guess they released more than 6 cars in Canada after all. So, those 4 aren't ordered by anyone else? I thought 90% of them in Canada we all pre-ordered and sold.
I guess there are still chance for MS-P buyers to snatch one up if they want it.
Would you know or been to Durham Mazda? I have my car ordered here and yet, i haven't heard anything from them. Maybe i should switch over to Avante?

I do not know about Durham Mazda, I am in the same boat as you with my order....my dealer has been great so I am going to stick with them even thou I will be waiting a bit more time. As for switching to Arvate....they seem like decent folks...my bet thou is when they get thier 4 more the other dealers will be getting them at the same time.
The person at Arvate offered to sell me one so they are for sure not spoken for yet.

My guess is the same, they might drop of the 4 MSPs at Avante, they drop off 3 at Durham! All from the same trailer. :)

Well, I went and saw that MSP Thursday night at Avante Mazda.
That color is quite different than I thought it would be.
Much lighter and paler in person though it could be the lighting in their service shop. It is flashy indeed.
The car is being picked up 12 noon Saturday if anyone is interested in having a closer look. I myself am curious to see what it's like basking in the sun.

I got "the call" from my dealer.... the msp at Avante is my car!!
(mspo) (rofl) (mspo)
I can't #*%#* believe it.
I went to see it for the first time tonight too. How many people saw my car before me anyway?
They wouldn't even let me start it because the inspection hadn't been finished ... they said they wanted to be thorough so I couldn't complain given the problems so far.
The material of the seat was a big first impression ... way better than I thought it would be ... really nice.
The amp and woofer look great in the trunk, and the inside of the trunk is definitely not metallic paint.
I've seen it person, but still really dirty and by shoplights, and the colour is still impossible to describe ... more yellow than I expected, really sharp... I can't wait to get it in sunlight.
The badside ... if that's possible ... is that my first drive will be to the wheel shop for the winters and the second will be to put in a boomerang.
By the way, Avante has been a really good dealership, and I'm pretty sure they still have a couple of unsold cars.
(yippy) (yippy) I don't think I'm going to get much sleep tonight.

Cool...when I saw your car it was dirty as well but was in the back lot...they would not open it for me which I respect...you have picked a good dealer and I would tell them so since they usually just catch Sh*t from people.
Congrats on your ride !

12-06-2002, 09:12 AM
The dealer was Avante mazda at steeles and yonge that had 4 left...maybe you are thinking of the one in Richmond hill ?
How much is a boomerang anyway ? and what winter tires are you getting....? My jeep is dying so I might change my plan on storing the MSP for the winter months. Our MP3 is stored already and there is a spot right next to it for the MSP.

(spin) Thanks guys ..... The dealership is the Avante at Yonge and Steeles and they have been great. Both Avantes are. See Eddie (Sales Manager) at my dealership or Anthony at the other one.
Boomerang is a car location system that works on cell phone frequencies, so it works in parking garages and the like. They bury it in the body panels and it has a battery back-up so they can't just disconnect the car battery. The new one ... Boomerang 2..... is about $550.00Cdn installed, and includes a little pager which pages you if the car moves without the ignition being turned on.
I ran out of time trying to find a decent set of 5 spoke rims for the winter tires, so I'm using 9 spoke Enkei's with Yokohoma AVS-V901's .... about $1,700Cdn with taxes included.
I still haven't decided how much I like the rims, I'll just have to wait and see. I played with photoshop and a picture of the rim from the Enkei website and made this ...... what do you think?????

Congrats DPMMSP!
Yeah, that Avante Mazda dealership seems pretty good. They didn't even let me within 20 ft of your damn car since you were around that night looking at getting extending the warranty I hear.
You might have seen me there drooling outside in the cold looking in at your new ride through the service garage windows.
So when exactly are you picking it up?! I wouldn't mind checking it out just to see what it's like. No talks of test drive here unless you're an extremely generous person. =]
Also, what is the warranty period on it anyway, 3 or 4 years as rumoured?
Plz give us cost and details if you did get it extended. Thanks.
dpmmsp
12-06-2002, 06:00 PM
I looked at the extended warranty but haven't decided yet. The existing warranty is 3 year bumper to bumper, 5 year drivetrain. To extend the bumper to bumper to 5 year is just under $1,000. I have up to a year to decide. The part to think about is this. The price is based on the regular Protege, they didn't get around to changing it yet. That means all those extra parts and stuff are being covered sort of for free. Eddie thought the price may go up when Mazda catches on. I don't think it would take a lot to go wrong over the 4th and 5th year to rack up a $1,000 bill so it may be worth it. I'll decide over the next week or so. You can get up to 8 years on it.
The car was $26,995 .... about $900 in Freight .... consumption tax, A/C tax .... $50 for administration .... $10 to switch the plates .... PST & GST. I can't really tell you the actual total as I traded in the VTec on it. I'm going to miss my little green bomb. You drive a car for over 8 years you get pretty attached to it .... but I think I can make the adjustment.
I'm picking it up between 12 and 1 tomorrow and have to get it to the wheel place by 1:30. After that the car will be with me, right downtown near the skydome .... anyone wants to see it or maybe more, I'm sure I can arrange something. The people at this site have been an invaluable source of info and "comradary" regarding the car and I'd be happy to give something back.

Why are you going to be near skydome tommorrow? Are you going down to importfest? I plan on going to importfest and if i'm in the area i wouldn't mind stopping by to see the car in person.
give me a few details as to where you'll be and at what time!

My family runs a company and when you own a business, you really work everyday whether you like it or not. That's why 3 or 4 of you saw the car before me. That and the fact getting to Yonge & Steeles from downtown is less than convenient. I'm still at work now but leaving in a minute. During the week, look around the corner of Adelaide and Bathurst and you never know what you might see.
wasn't there a memo sent out to all Mazda Dealers telling them that the MAzdaspeed is now to be offered with the new 4 yr, 80km warranty?

Hey dpmmsp!
Could you give us a break down of your invoice?! (minus your trade-in of course unless you want us to know that too!)
Thanks.
I'm trying to figure out what's a good deal for this car here in Toronto.
Here's my invoice break down of a recent purchase agreement that I'll be cancelling shortly. My ass would have been real sore had I kept this one. Check out the rediculous Administration fee.
$26,995 MSRP
$895 Freight + PDI
$100 Air Tax
$75 Fuel Tax
$105 Metallic Paint
$295 Administration
$4270 15% Cdn Tax (Ouch!)
==============
$32,735 Total

I saw the thread you started. Any chance that would be Downtown Mazda? We have an "msp history". :bicker: I was told the metallic paint was included in the msp list price because there were no other paint options. My freight was around $920 (I get the paperwork tomorrow). My administration fee was $50
.:bs: :bs: that's over $300.00 difference :bs: :bs:
Also, see my reply in the odometer thread

$295 Administration??? I had to pay only $125 and I thought that was a lot!!! Also, I didn't have to pay for paint. Freight was about $900. All the other charges were the same for me. That damn tax really kills it!

12-08-2002, 01:35 PM
Get them to break down the admin fee for you, mine was high but included the $100 air tax, $25 dollar tire tax, $10 battery tax
so take that $135 + $125 (actual admin fee) = $265.
Every dealer does it differently, but if they break it down then it at least makes sense.
And paint is included in the price.
