Ok guys here is the deal, seems like I may have been wrong on the 9 speakers, I have had a audio friend look at the car and this is what he says,
2 tweeters in the pillar definatly work
http://www.mpsport.net/images/digi/848.jpg
2 speakers in the front doors definatly work
http://www.mpsport.net/images/digi/846.jpg
2 speakers in the rear door definatly work
http://www.mpsport.net/images/digi/847.jpg
1 subwoofer in the rear trunk definatly works
Picture already on this site.
However the grills in the rear deck lid that LOOK like speakers
http://www.mpsport.net/images/digi/849.jpg
http://www.mpsport.net/images/digi/850.jpg
are just cutouts with Kenwood grills on them, they will accommodate 6x9 speakers but DO NOT have them.
Sorry for all the confussion guys. My friend does say that the stereo is very well designed, but he is sourcing me some speakers and an amp for the rear deck lid now :D

Does the trunk-mounted subwoofer vent through those rear deck speaker grilles?
P.S. The paint in the door jambs looks metallic. Is it? I know the trunk and engine compartment are allegedly non-metallic.

Nope the sub vents directly into the trunk.

digi168..
thanks for the clarification... Would you rather have had 6 x 9's in the rear deck? or the 6" in the rear doors?
Can you let us know which 6x9" you'll be running when you do install them.
Something i just notice that is screwed up!!!
Where is the 3 head rest in the rear?????

This third headrest:

thing is, is there room underneath the rear deck for the magnets? I mean, if you put speakers in there, the magnets stick down into the trunk, But, that's where they got the sub/amp mounted, So, is there any room left?

There seems to be room, the sub is mounted in the middle and the amp is off to the left and front of the deck lid. We will be taking out the plastic shrouding this weekend to get a good look and I will try to post some pics for you.
I am mostly on MSN digi168@hotmail.com and ICQ is 2145443

I drove an '03 P5 for a weekend and I would have to say that the clucth in the MSP is little stiffer, but much smoother than the P5, it really doesn't take that much more effort to engage it.

There is definatly no third head rest nor is there any place to install it.
You might get them in the states but looking at the picture I could see then not allowing in canada because it could obstruct your view out the back window. Our governement is a little over protective of us here. :bs: They want to save us from ourselves.
well, we can think of it this way....at least if we do get some speakers for the back, there's a place to put them, and grills to cover them so it will look like a factory done job. Too bad we couldn't use the existing amp to hook up some more speakers though.

The only car (possibly cars) that has the trhee big headrests in the back is the orange one I posted, which seems to be the same one that C&D and SCC testing, as well as being spotted outside Mazda Canada HQ with California tags on it. Every other car, be it at SEMA, Texas, Florida, California or Montreal, has the small headrests and no center headrest.

No, i don't think this is right at all! This picture was taken straight off the MazdaUSA site and it's evident that there is a middle headrest. When this is shown in the site as a production model, we should get one when we purchase the car! Bullshit, if it obstructs the rearview. Look into an european car, C Class, A4, even 3 series BMW, they are have 3 head rest!. You're telling me, that this isn't obstructing some of there rearview? :bs:
It obstructs the rearview to a certain extent, but you can still see cars or whatnot visibily above the headrest.
i think that center headrest is kinda odd looking anyway....and plus..whoever the poor soul stuffed in the middle seat is will already be uncomfortable..i dont think hell mind about the headrest

just saw the pics, thx.
how did the inside of the car get dirty so quick, and what dripped along the rear speaker? just wondering :)
Krillin, it's called people you are nice enough to give a ride to, but they don't give a rats ass about kicking everything in your car. This sooooo pisses me off. I'm so sick of telling people to LIFT their feet when getting into and out of the car so they don't kick the crap out of my side skirts or speakers in the doors. It seems so simple to me....and no offense to women on this board( cause you all special, but you know dat!), but %95 of the time it is a woman who ends up doing it...sorry....but true.

First off, that is a Sweet car!!! You must be lovin life!:D
Now, not to get critical, but I was also wondering what that is that ran down the speaker grill on the door. Could it be Armorall?
Also, your rear deck looks all dusty like it has stuff all over it. Did they really detail your car before you picked it up?
Again, no flames or anything, just wondering since it's only been 2 days since you picked up your car. Usually when I clean my car really good it lasts a week or two before it starts looking anything like that and being brand new I would think it would stay even cleaner.

I am not sure what it is since I haven't been in the back seat, and didn't notice till I took the picture, dealers says it is some kind of cleaning solution they will take of it by re detailing the car on Saturday. I think they rushed it, partically my fault, because I keep telling them that I didn't want to come tomorrow for the car.

HAHA! newf, this is soo true!. i totally agree with you. But i'll tell you something, this only happens, because those who aren't thinking about, not to kick the door panel or the side skirt is because they simply don't care. Because you own the car, you will be obviously be more cautious with how you enter and exit out of your car.
It's just human nature.:)
Anyway, so how many headrest should we expect when we get the car??..c'mon, at least 2 'REAL' head rest!
i'm still very dissappointed about not getting all 3, after all, if the middle headrest is obstructing the rearview, just take it off!!
We paid for 3 head rest anyway.

Why the hard-on for the third headrest? I think it looks ridiculous. I don't think I've ever crammed more than four people in my car (including myself). It would just be uncomfortable!

i just believe what we pay is which we should get.
Like i said earlier, if it bothers people with the middle headrest, they simply take it off.
Can someone just verify how many headrest in the rear?
I think i've asked this a few times, but i haven't gotten a reply.
thanks!

Who do you want to verify this? Two people got their cars that we know of. One of them definitely only has 2 rear headrests (and small ones at that, compared to the prototype pics) and the other probably does. So, based on that, they all have 2 rear headrests. Nobody knows anything else, that's why you didn't get an answer.

The picture that you posted was taken from the Mazdausa.com site, this is why i thought would come in the production cars. If they were planning on doing false advertisements with 3 headrest in the rear, they might as well have put in the sunroof in all of their pictures to 'pretend' that the car was coming with this feature.
I don't mean to get on anyone's case here, i just want to prove my point.

Why aren't you complaining about the Kenwood Excelon stereo system? At best, only the door speakers are Excelon units. The head unit, amp, and sub are definitely not Excelon. False advertising? Maybe. Does it mean we can complain and get an Excelon system? Uhh, no.
true about the stereo. Makes me wonder if it's actually much better then the MP3 stereo. I'd almost rather the z828, and my 10" sub.

i'd take excelon speakers and non-excelon head unit sub and amp over the opposite.....price difference between non excelon speakers and excelon speakers is much a lot more than the non excelon 919 and the excelon 859, and if you are the kind of person who would miss the difference between an excelon 8" and a non excelon 8" then ur probably getting your own subs anyways
just my .02
sorry, but my speakers in my mp3 have excelon written on them as does the z828.
Although I'm not sure about the fronts. I got the specs home, I'm at work right now.

As far as I know we have 6x8's in the front.
I am hoping to be able to make a 6.5 fit...
