my mp3 has 43k miles and i don't know if the previous owner ever had a valve adjustment performed. the motor is ticking fairly loudly although i don't know if it is normal for the 2.0L.
can anyone give me the adjustment specs for the intake and exhaust valves? i prefer them to be in inches. anything unusual for the adjustment? i'll replace the valve cover gasket.
anybody have an online manual? i also need to know the order of the cylinders and how much to rotate the motor from tdc for each cylinder. thanks!

try some thicker weight oil, you don't need to adjust the valves

Valve clearance [Engine cold] (mm {in})
IN 0.25--0.31 {0.010--0.012} (0.28±0.03 {0.011±0.001})
EX 0.25--0.31 {0.010--0.012} (0.28±0.03 {0.011±0.001})
is this what you are looking for?

if you're not used to the solid lifter sound, it's probably right.
you wont get excessive tapping from only 43000miles.

i'm used to the sound of a valvetrain from my integra R. the mp3 sounds quite a bit louder which may be normal for a mazda 2.0L, but i have nothing to compare. it's easy enough to adjust the valves.
thanks, will adjust to 0.011 inches!

I know my injectors are real noisey that could be your problem also.

i thought honda's were hydraulic lifters?
oh and if you want to get the sound down, go to 0.009" clearance
