It's suppose to be like the Toyota Matrix with 6 seats. I have not seen this in person, but from the brochure it doesnt look too big.

Any integrated turning signal side mirrors kit available from Japan? And the 6+1 kit available too, in case we really don't get the 6+1 configuration? (eyeballs)
LED rear lamps? (bow)

i like the 5, especially withthe kenstyle kit. but for me, it crosses the line of looking too much like a minivan.

That is really bad. The body kits make them look a little better, but shame on Mazda for making this piece of crap. What were they thinking?(drunk)

They were thinking that there is a need for something that isn't a minivan, and isn't a 4-seat vehicle. They are right. A lot of people are really looking forward to not only seeing this vehicle, but driving it and purchasing it.
Kudos to Mazda for the forward thinking. (cheers)

I think this vehicle will do well in europe and japan where thay are much more fuel conscious. But here in the states it will not sell. Minivans are on there way out, SUV are obviously popular but I think station wagons will be the new upcoming trend. I don't think many people are looking forward to it, but I guess only time will tell.

Im looking forward to it. It's something different, and the less people that have it the better :D. Wait until the Mazda aftermarket gets on it.

Actually - governmentally it lists as a mid-size WAGON. With the 3rd row seats folded down - it is really close in size to my subaru legacy wagon. I consider it a wagon/minivan hybrid.
Also - no one vehicle if for everyone. I'm not expecting the mazda5 to be a huge seller, but for those of us who have outgrown our sedans/wagons and don't want a full on SUV/Van - then this car is PERFECT and very desired. Plus Americans are beginning to be fuel conscious with the rising prices - look at the popularity of the prius.

Looks like Kenstyle redid their site. None of the old links work anymore.
Here's a link to the Premacy page
Kenstyle Premacy goods (http://www.kenstyle.co.jp/info2.php?id=111)
I just emailed Kenstyle international asking if they have plans to import stuff for the 5. Hopefully they respond, and say yes :D

BINGO! We have a winner. Every night I go to sleep dreaming of ways to spend more money on 'coolness' factor and gadgetry for our new* '5.
*(new ---> read "to be delivered in Decem..uh,.. January, maybe...")
Boy. I think I've spent, like $10k in dream mods. Easy! But the twins need new snowsuits...pronto, so I think my 'mods' are limited to window tint, snow tires, and an oil underspray for the time being. (whip)
(canada)
Yeah. Except if I had twins Id be broke off formula alone. While toledo gets a crapload of snow, its nowhere near as bad as ottawa so I wont have to buy snow tires thank goodness! Good luck!

I really love those Autoexe kits. Hmm. I wonder if I can convince the wife that it's a safety enhancement? (hah) Luckily for me (and for her) it doesn't look like anyone has a way to get them imported yet.

Yes, I parked my 5 next to a Ford Expedition and took a picture. Even with the photo's forced perspective the 5 is much, much smaller as you can see... :D

Not bad looking.. Needs the V6......
V6 will make the front end too heavy and mess up the balance of the handling... The 2.3 turbo from Mazdaspeed3, Mazdaspeed6, and CX-7 will be perfect for it...

+1. Any updates on prices? Shipping? Availability? Additional accessories for the 5? I want some pedals for the 5. (No, the current ones out there are for the Mazda3 and not the 5, foot rest doesn't match)

I looked into ordering the AutoExe kit and it turns out you need the Japan spec front and rear bumpers to fit.
The Damd kit is also pretty hot but it costs around $1700CDN to get it here from Japan + all the addition customs fees.
Until 5 owners are interested in kitting out their rides, the only thing I could really find in North America is the JDM front lip.
Anyone else have any sources?

Is that a pic of your ride? very nice... love the rims... and am I seeing that grilled outlined in red??? .... sweet!!!
I'm in Toronto... just wondering where you found a place to source and install the lip and about how much it cost (shipping installation etc.)?
The lip looks like its about the same height off the ground as the side sills... Have you had to change your driving habits (over hills, speed bumps, etc.)?

I ordered the front lip from here http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280086285269 and it looks like they still have more. They were awesome to deal with! I made the arrangements myself to get it up here through FedEx ($127!!) which is kind-of steep but I wanted to make sure it got up here in 1 piece. Of course you still have to get it painted so in total it cost me just shy of $400.
I did the install myself which was tricky because the fit was super tight. I used 3M body moulding tape and the included hardware to anchor it just inside the wheel well.
Seems like a bunch of effort but it was worth it. I didn't like to look of the front end being higher than the side sills. I do have to be more careful with some driveways but the clearance is not that bad.
I was experimenting with red vinyl to give my 5 a VW GTI gront grille look but I didn't keep it on. I made a different mod this weekend which looks fantastic!! I post a pic tomorrow.

Joeboy, Thanks for the info!
This is the wife's car so I wanted to make sure if I put the lip on that she could still drive around the way she normally does... my concern was speed bumps... on driveways, steeper hills or speed bumps are you going in at angles or could she just drive over them really slowly? i figured clearance shouldn't be too bad if it's the same height as the side sills...
looking forward to seeing your next mod posting...

To be honest on the OUTSIDE the car is not much bigger than a toyota matrix, though it is a bit taller.
Thanks HOT!!! Looks really good in black hides the sliding door line:) look kind of like a fit from that angle...
