hey guys I know i'm new to the site but I can get our hoods made in CF or any color you want. I don't know about you guys but I want to loose some weight and that 48lb. hood is gone. this guy I worked with in the past makes perfect fit hoods and wouldn't have it any other way. I just need 10 people who want to go in and a test car in CA. I would also like to know what colors you guys want and in FG or CF. thanks a lot.

Hey man, if you're just gauging interest I'm def. in. Of course pricing and quality is whats gonna give you my yes or no. BUT if its perfect fit, good quality and a reasonable price, I'm DEF in.
As for color/type...I'm in for carbon fiber...Question, are these gonna be OEM style, or maybe vented??? Maybe just a bit more agressive would be AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!

well that's the thing it's anything we want... if you can come up a nice design and give me what it looks like I can make a mold of it. now about quality from using this guy in the past he made a hood for me and a company where the fit was insane it was a direct drop on with no second guessing.. I am deff going to back up his work and he said he won't charge that much we had 10 hoods made and we charged 350+ shipping!!!!!

I'm not in CALI I'm in PA... but my old sponsors MUSSA RACING are helping me with this project... so I'm designing the hood and making the mold then I'm sending it out to CALI for production... I need a tester out there to fit it on the car... you don't get a free one
but here is the price if we get 10 made:
*350 each
*color is another 75 bucks
now that doesn't include the shipping but I'll find out I might have my old sponsors ship them out for us. they ae my best friends

I'm def in for the hood...I want something like the pic you showed us as well...Maybe you can design something?? Obviously if the hood is vented its gonna have slots to close the vents for the rain right???
Check it out here's a pic, can you work with this???

I am also very interested in this. The quality of that hood looked amazing and I would love to have a vented hood for my 3s. Will the hoods be made for the 5 door, sedan or both? I have a sedan and know that the sedan and 5 door don't share a single body panel so the hoods would def. be different. I am interested in a cf vented hood w/ slots like tgv wants.

as of right now I can only do the 5door since I need to make another order for the 4door since it is a defferent design....
tgv121281: yea that picture works out great. IDK how to close the holes for the rain but the way we do it is to let the rain not fall. that hood never gave me a problem when it rained we made sure that the water would miss anything important and it doesn't get that much in. As a design by the end of the week I'll come up with some designs.

Well, I know some makers make actual open/close vents...Picture a flat piece under each vent, that you can manually slide open or closed depending on driving conditions...The best image I can give you would be similar to the sliding locks you see on peoples doors....slide left closed, slide right open...
I guess the thinking is that for the most part, you leave them close, and when you're gonna run hard you open them up...Otherwise you leave 'em open and you have to stop in the rain and close them...
Or if you really want to get creative it'd be SICK to wire something where you can open/close vents from the inside of the car. This way you can leave them open, and justy close them when it rains from the inside....
I'm just saying, looking at the below pics those vents are pretty big and I cant see anyway of redirecting all the water...besides you really dont want water ANYWHERE inside the engine bay you know??
I mean I live in miami, where it rains like 9mos out of the year...and there's hurricanes...etc etc etc....So it needs to be something like that...

Yeah..whats up with the vents?? on the evo i noticed they are open because the supposedly draw out hot air. I have a similiar hood and was going to cut the vents out jsut like the evo's but was thinkink about putting in some type of element to keep shit out. I wasnt airtight at first and my engine got dirty..dusty. Maybe someone with an evo can speak up with there experience.

ok I'm building this thing by myself so making vents open and close is a nogo... nd for the hood I made for the tiburon that is stricly a race hood. I needed something to cool my turbo down from the extreme heat of the track running 25 laps.... I would prob do smaller holes venting out air and then some venting air in for guys who want short ram intakes....

well just so you guys see this guys quality of work this is the mussa VI hood that they just finished and it's in CF blue (it was meant for my car but it's gone :P )

Something like that is sweet...small venting air OUT, some nice agressive lines....thats exactly what I'd like to see done....nothing over the top

aight I got some ideas and I'm going to start drawing them into rough sketches and I'll post them up...

Rock & roll dv...we're behind ya, or at least I am.....I'm sure once you post some sketches more people will join in....I'd start a new thread as well and just say "custom c/f hood...Opinions?? And let it rip!

aight man start that up and Also make a poll.... see what kind of style people would like... I also got all the information on how much and I got my old sponsors to ship the hoods out for me... hopefully I can full fill this on my part. Creative ideas on this hood are hard since the way it's shaped and all...

aight I came up with a few ideas and I'll start a new topic to see what ones you guys like.... I'll do it around 2 eastern time since I have class right now... putting race calipers and rotors on the 3 right now....

Just an idea: has anyone ever seen the hood on a Pugeot 206? I always liked that style, nothing over the top, but with vents to dissipate heat. Some design beneficial for a short ram intake would be worth looking at too.

eh. i am not big on stuff that will be too flashy, but that isn't flashy enough

I'm almost done with the ideas but yea that is a good design...

I gotta go w/ curacer....like I said from the start...I dont want over the top, but I do want it to be noticeably more agressive than the OEM hood...that peugot is nice...but way too tame for my taste...

a design similar to the "rotary bulge" of the RX-8s hood would be cool too, or maybe a cutout of that same design so it could be used to dissipate some heat. Let's see some pics!

nah, i was thinking more like an evo hood or something like the pic of the tiburon hood earlier in the forum. something that isn't horribly flashy, but not weak.

Exactly, a step down from the EVO & tib hood we say would be nice...of course it has to go well with the body lines and overall look of the rest of the car...
I thought we were gonna have pics a couple days ago at 2pm?? I bet he's working up something reeeeeeel sweeeeet!!!!
Out of curiousity, if this design is a go and we want in...how long you think it'll take to take it from paper, to mold, to finished product?

the tiburon took me about 12 weekss from beginning to first made... also I just finished building my new computer. I am going to do them on photoshop instead of ms paint... so give me a bit I have about 5 styles I thought would work
