Turbo MP3

As some of you may know, I plan on parting out my MP3 http://www.msprotege.com/forum/showthread.php?t=100236&page=1&pp=15
However I am encountering a dilemma with myself now, the MP3 in my opinion is one of the sexiest cars ever, I loved the way mine looked, hell its still sexy to me, tonight I feel very nostalgic and I miss the hell out of my car. Recently I bought a truck (01 F-150) then my licence got suspended from my accident. Anyways i was thinking when i bought the truck if i wanted a car I would get a Evo or a Wrx or something once i had it paid off, although their performance figures are appealing they just don't have the fine sexy lines of the MP3 to me. I would be driving through the city and kids would just stare and be like nice car, i would meet new people because they didn't know what it was and they were curious it was unique.
Finally to the point I know it's been talked about, but is it really possible to get Awd imported, I would have the frame to rough up the installation on then to transfer to another protege(lazer blue of course) I would also build up my current motor for f/i. I would make the car look just like the Mp3 and then some other tasteful visual mods. I woulda also go more exscessive on the handleing abilities. After i would save some money up again I would make a "mini Thumper" with a Mam msp tubular manifold, and a T2871 turbo, and an Mam FMIC. The end result would be an hot/extremely fun car that would mean much more to me than an Evo or Sti, even if it would cost me more than a used one I would still love the Mazda more.

Sorry about the long post, but this has been on my mind for a while I guess. The only thing really holding me back is money, I make great money for a 17 y/o but i just don't know if it would be worth spending on a project like this, Input would be appreciated again sorry for all the babble.

sounds like something I would do if I wrecked my MSP...I could never let this baby go, seriously..I love her that much. WHEN I get rich, I'll still own it, parked next to my Ferrari's, BMW's and Audi's. I support the idea, even though it's gonna be costly, but hey, gotta pay to play right?.

It is completely possible to get the AWD setup from the Sport20 imported. The trannies are readily available. It's isn't a direct bolt up...the exhaust and the driveshaft supports would have to be custom fabricated, but that isn't hard to do. If I wasn't planning on building an RX-7 roadracer after I get my Pro5 paid off I would probably already be ordering parts for it.

Fabrication isn't an issue, but aside from the transaxles and driveshafts i would assume I would need a couple different rear end compenents. What else would I all need? I would assume all Us spec suspension compents would work?

Well, it depends man. People have different priorities so my advice might just be my opinion. Are you still in school or are you planning on getting a college degree? If not, if you think you're good where you are (with your job, etc...) then I say do it. But if you have to worry about paying for school (like me) then I would put off this project until you are more or less established.

I just turned 17 two months ago, I'm a Junior in highschool. I know what you're saying though, it will be subject to some debate, but i have two great high paying jobs and I have security with both of them. As for college it's either work and tech school, or the military.

Man, what I would give to be 17 again! I look at it this way. You’re not even old enough to have that many cars. I don't dought that you really love your MP3, but I loved every car I ever fixed up. It makes it yours. Right now you want to dump all of this money into something that you'll never get back. If you spend 5-10k on this car and some old guy hits you and totals it you’ll be right back here again. I am all for moding cars, hell I've been doing it for 17 yrs now. But I have learned that if your going to do it make sure that you don't go over board and do it with a car that you can get some thing back if you ever have to sell it. That and you should go to collage! Buy you a Pro swap out the mp3 stuff but make it yours. Just my .02!

Good luck to you.

AS for modding and not getting money back if you sell it, you pretty much have to go into things having a plan, I spent a lot of money modding out my 4 wheeler and I'm happy with what I have and I've had it like that for a while now with no intent on selling it. I know what you're saying though, so i'm not jumping right into anything.

Hmmm....AWD mod. A few years ago, ppl were doing this to their Escort GT's. The AWD parts came from a Mazda of sorts, but I don't remember what model. Give the guys at Corksport a call. They knew quite a few ppl who were doing this to the Escort's, so they *might* know how to go about doing this to a Protege. They import j-spec engines(used of coarse), so they might know of this.
