I put my injen cai intake on today and everything was running well. Once i turned my car off and then turned it back on my cel light came on. I'm not really to sure what could of happeded i checked all of the clamps and everything and it all seems to be intact. I reset the negative termial of the battery and it still comes on once i turn the car off and back on again. Please help! (boom07)

did you put the mass air flow in and hooked up? did you step on the brakes to ensure the charge was out of the system?

I never unplugged the maf sensor cause i was afraid of the cel light coming on. I just unhooked the tubes on each side of it and left the connecter attatched. What do you mean step on the breaks? I've drove it about 40 miles total today with normal driving

Check the mass air flow sensor. I'm almost willing to bet money that's it.

disconnect neg bat term. pump brakes for 10-15 sec. if you "reset" teh battery and the light came on immediately either its your MAF or you didnt actually reset.

what should i check for on the maf sensor? i didn't unhook the connector to it and the clamps are on tight around it. Unhook the negative terminal of the battery and step on the breaks for 10-15 seconds and then hook it back up?

Matthew

no then try to drive it.

of course hook it back up and see what happens then :)

What does stepping on the breaks with the negative battery terminal unhooked do? I've never heard of it? I will surely give it a shot tho

releases the last of the electrical charge. it makes a difference trust me. if i dont do that my CEL wont clear.

sweet i will definately give it a shot. any other ideas if that doesn't work?

double check your intake air temp sensor (though if that was fucked up it would throw a battery light, but maybe if it isnt hooked up and you have a gaping hole in your pipe that might do it) and mass air flow sensor. make sure you MAF isnt on backwards or whatever.

i've checked and rechecked the air temp senor. Did you have any problems with any of the little tubes getting kinked going to the blow off line?

Matthew

i dont, but i dont have a MSP

when i do the break thing. Does the light normally go off right away or after driving and with time?

Matthew

right away

ok I will in the morning. Do you think it's ok to drive with the cel light on?

Matthew

you should be fine if its nothing major, but if its coming on again right away something must be jacke dup.

JaysMazdaSpeed

I hope it's nothing major. I don't know what could of happened. The only thing i can think of is one of the small hoses that goes to the blow off line is kinked but i've seen another msp with the same intake and it looks the same

i still think something is not on right. just out of curiousity maybe try to flip the MAF around and reconnect everything. reset and see what happens. possibly if you say the connections are all good, and everything is plugged in, maybe its backwards. long shot, but you never know.

the maf sensor matches the diagram i have. but the only think i can think of is that something is messed up with the blow off line. maybe that's on backwards. I'll have to recheck it in the morning

from the diagram i have the blow off line appears to be on the wrong way. The arrow on it is facing towards the front of the car with the vacuum line on the side towards the front of the car. But i've checked another msp and his is the same way and doesn't have the cel. Do you think i should turn it around or is it the right because of the arrow? Anybody think of anything i can try? please help

Matthew

I switched the blow off line around the other way. It definately fits better that way. The light still came on. But it might still be on cause i drove it a little yesterday with it on the wrong way. So hopefully it will go off today. If not i made an appointment with mazda tomorrow morning. The mechanic said that it's prolly a vacum leak somewhere and is pretty common. I won't be able to check the internet until around 10 pm tonight indiana time. Will keep you posted.

I talked to mazda today and an intake does not void your warranty and it shouldn't be a problem to check it out and see what was wrong. It probally just needs to be reset but who knows.

the mechanic fixed my cel. There was some kine of tempterature sensor down by the turbo that came unhooked. It wasn't anything that i unhooked intentially it must of come unhooked with the removal of the stock intake. But just so everyone knows a injen cai is A-OK by the mechanics at Mazda from what he told me! Thanks for the ideas on how to try to get it fixed.
