Ok guys, unfortunatly this how-to is for CP racing strut bar equiped MSP's or if you just want to install the setup this way, you can use this writeup as well.
Nology does not supply us with a good detail writup so here it goes. I hope this will clear up some questions. I will go by attatchment order, so when I say "pic one", that means attatchment one.
Ok lets start.
PIC 1 & 2
This is what the engine bay looked like before the install. As you can see the biggest problem is the CP Racing strut bar is straight insted of the sloped OEM Racing Beat strut bar that comes on the MSP/P5/MP3. The Nology Bracket is supposed to go on the center bolt in between and underneath the strut bar. It cant be seen here, but its part of the mounting location for the cruize control for the P5 and other Protege's.
First start by taking of the MSP engine cover. There are 4 (10mm) nuts to unscrew. Then slowly lift the engine cover as there are washers that will fly out of the engine cover if you jerk it to hard.
PIC 3
Once you get the cover off you will have exposed the coil packs (2), and your OEM ignition wires (one small and one long)
PIC 4
With some masking tape, number the coil packs "A"and "B". Do the same to the connecting clips.
PIC 5
This is what the engine will look like with the coils and wires off. You will also need to take off the 10mm screws holding the packs to the valve cover.

PIC 6
This is what the coil packs will look like removed from the engine. You will need to remove the integrated spark plug connector from the coil packs.
PIC 7
These are the coil packs without the connectors
PIC 8
Ok now you get the supplied Nology bracket and hold it with the Nology name facing upright. Drop the bolts into the 4 holes. Make sure you place a washer on each!!!
PIC 9
Place the coils underneath. They will have 2 spacers to account for the space from the bracket to the mont on the coils. Make sure the signal wire connector is facing the "Y" of the Nology decal.
Now put the coils and bracket to the side. Its time to uninstall the strut tower bar.
Now since we know we are having some clearance issues with the CP Racing Strut bar, we will have to custom make a mounting bracket to accomidate the wires in a better location.
PIC 10
You will need: 1/4" metal bit and 2 plastic 1/4 locking tabs like the ones in the pic. They look like the ones that hold the majority of the plastic on the car.

PIC 11
You will also need a "T" bracket. You can get these from Lowes or Home Depot. Get one about 3" by 4" long.
Now get the T bracket and test fit the T for the best possible fit on the Bolt that Holds 2 Vacuumes where the P5's VTCS is. It is next to 2 connectors located on top of the intake manifold. Once you have the T fitting in the best possible location, mark where you will have to drill the 2 holes on the Nology bracket to mount.
PIC 12
When you have drilled the 2 holes on the Nology bracket and the T bracket, place 2 plastic pressure tabs (you can use nuts and bolts, but I wanted an OEM look). This setup will hold your coils out of the way. and give you clearance for your strut bar.
Now peel off some of the electrical tape from the spark signal wires. Just enough that the clips will reach the clips on the coils, and plug A to A, and B to B.
PIC 13
Now run your wires from the coils to the plugs as you had them before. Remeber that the bottom of the coils had a plug connector as well. Make a mental note as you run your wires. The longest wire will be the furthest from the coil packs.
PIC 14
Ground your Nology wires to the 2 center bolts that held the coils at one time. Place the bolts into the other 2 so you dont loose them.
Then go ahead and install the 2 clips that will hold youe wires together. Be careful, the tiny nuts will fall when you unscrew the clips. Make sure and hold them tight when installing them.
PIC 15
Now reinstall your strut bar, and your engine cover. Vuala!!!! You're done!!

What does it mean when you say "pic two" ?

Why number the coil packs A & B? I don't think there is a difference except for the length of the high tension leads attached.

This is just so you dont get confused while your installing them. Its your choice.

Haven't driven the car around town just yet. I'll be trying it out tonight when I go out. I turned the car on and let it run for a while. It was a quick start. Usually in cold weather, there's a slight pause before the engine turns over. Thats one of the big differences I noticed. It started right up.

where did you get that strut bar? I want one!

Essential Speed. It's a CP Racing 4 Point Strut bar. It's a replica of the AutoEXE strut bar. I think it was around $200. The AutoEXE was about $300. Good luck with shipping though. It took 2 months to arrive.

Is there some reason it isnt bolted into the top part of the engine bay?

What are the supposed benifits of this ignition set-up. They are still the stock "smart" coils....

This setup uses the stock coils. The Nology wires are supposed to give a stronger spark.

How does it give a "stronger spark" while using the same coils? Does it use an amplifier?

http://www.nology.com/hotwork.html : pic & small explanation
Here's the explaination for those too lazy to go to their home page. If it doesnt answer it all, I dont know what to tell you since I didnt invent it myself and I'm no Albert Einstein.:
"Nology HotWires are the most technologically advanced ignition wires available. HotWires are engineered with a special built-in capacitor, exclusive only to HotWires. This revolutionary design allows energy from the ignition coil to accumulate in the capacitor until the voltage at the spark plug electrodes reaches the ionization point. At that split second point the entire power of the stored spark is discharged at once, creating a spark 300 times more powerful. The result is faster, more complete combustion, and most importantly, MORE HORSEPOWER that's 100%. Smog Legal."
Now it's important to note, the HP is not going to be HUGE. It's very slight, not even noticable. But the ride is smoother, has a quicker start up and it's said to reduce detonation because of the quicker, cleaner, more efficient combustion since it begins with the spark itself.

Ok anyone know where I'm supposed to mount the bracket?

Where your strut bar goes. There's a bolt that you use to hold up the bracket. Its the only logical place to put it. It's hard to explain, but it supposed to go parallel to the strut bar where they both mount.

Check out my thread "need some help!" in the MSP engine and performance section for a picture of where it goes. Oh, and reply to my thread if you go out and look on your car:)

Hey Lara,
Just wanted to say THANKS!!! (2thumbs)
I just installed a set of Hotwires on my MP3, and however slightly different in setup, your how-to was a great help. The instructions that they send from Nology suck... majorly!!! Thanks again.
