I just recently replaced my 195-50-16's with 215-40-17 and i am experiancing a drop in milage. I used to get about 325 miles before the low warning light came on, now it is about 305. I new i would probably get worse milage. Is that about right, a loss of 1.5 mpg. What have others experianced? I am planning on adding at CAI and a shorty header, to help with a little more power, so i don't have to dip so deep in the throttle. Is my thinking logical or what?

What is "recently"? Have you measured and averaged mpg for several tankfuls and not just one? Colder weather lately? New tires/rims caused a slightly more aggressive change in your driving style as you tried them out?

your CAI will increase you mileage as well. I'm running CAI, Header, exhaust and on the highway, locked on cruise at 77-80 gets me about 400 MPT. and yes, your thinking is logical.

I average mid 20's with my driving I have intake, exhaust and let my car run every morning to warm up in the cold weather. Up in the New England we run on different gas for the cold weather to keep emmissions low and that hurts the milage a little. Then again in the summer I use the AC and that hurts the milage, too. I pretty much average mid 20's for my normal driving and 30 when driving on the highway......mazda protege's don't get the great milage for the 2.0L

i have gone through 3 tanks of fuel. Yes i did drive a little more agressive, mostly onramps and off ramps, there are no real twisties to drive. If i was still living in Oakland i would using those hills probably everyday, but i have gotten a little more conservative in my old age (ha, ha)

In Denver with shitty winter gas I get about 325 MPT. On good summer gas driving to AZ and back I get about 400 MPT.
