I have a 1990 red mazda miata. It is slightly modded with a racing beat dual exhaust and OBX racing intake. I love the sound but i want more power. Is there anything that might help me out without leaving a hole in my pocket.

Maybe nitrous...kits are fairly cheap...and you can use it on an as needed basis..

How big a hole are you worried about? The Greddy turbo kit for the 1.6L cars is about $1,200. It's about 6-7 psi stock boost and non-intercooled, but it's a hell of a kick for the money.

Save your pennies and get a low boost turbo kit.

Don't hesitate to ask questions! And come back with pics whenever you do decide to do it.
Although as acidbbg said, nitrous will give you a good kick in the pants but technically can only be used on the track.

www.flyinmiata.com (http://www.flyinmiata.com) makes intercooler upgrades for the greddy turbo kit, as well as thier own turbo kits and supercharger kits.

takes about 6 to 8 hours with good hand tools. if you go with flyin miata thier kits have really superb directions.

MiaTurbo here on the forum installed his GReddy kit. He's done that, a 3 inch exhaust and a Bipes ECU, and he's putting out nearly 150 at the wheels! Not bad for a 180,000+ mile Miata that was sub 100hp stock!

Greddy is the best bang for the buck. Nice thing about the Greddy is you can start with the bolt on kit (about $1200), and upgrade as your budget allows. With the turbo, 2.5" RMDP, 2.5" Enthuzza 'Budget racer' cat-back, and the Bipes ACU, I got less than $2k (exhaust and Bipes were used). With that 2k I increased power by over 50%!. yeah the FM kits are nice, but over $3500 just to start, not very budget friendly. I'll have an intercooler and better fuel managment by the end of the year. That'll put me at $2600 or so, and should give me about 170hp or so with about 8-9psi. Link ECU next year, but that's about $1300 and will give me a more reliable 190-200hp after tuning.
Right now I have 195k miles on my 91 and still get 33mpg on the highway too!

the are very similar to the FM kits. I/C design might be a tad more efficent.
If you get it do not get the Link that comes with the AVO kits. Buy it with out electronics. If you want a Link get it from FM as the software that FM has on the links is totally different that you would get from LINK NZ. FM's software is miata specific.

d00d! I haven't seen you in like forever! You were one of the first people I talked to about a Miada before I got it...
